A Setting for Sunflowers

The calendar still says it's summer!  Our temperatures have been cooler, but it sure has been dreary.  I couldn't wait to get outside at the beginning of the week to set up this tablescape, but before I could even finish the pictures, a storm came up out of nowhere, it seemed, and rain threatened.  So I called in the troops and we got everything in before the rain came.  I had every intention of setting up again, taking a few nighttime shots, but never got around to it.

I found these great sunflower plates at the end of summer last year, and couldn't wait to use them, so here goes!
This April Cornell tablecloth was the perfect backdrop for this transition table.

The picnic table was set for four, and the place settings were changed up a bit, to accommodate the centerpiece and candle holders.

Of course, the centerpiece had to be sunflowers!  I also added in some mums for the color.

I used my Target chargers, and a yellow napkin, with the "sun" face napkin ring.

A view of the plates without the bowl...

Just a bit of bling on the candle holders from Home Goods.

I wound a grapevine around the table with green leaves, nandina berries. and white lights.  Never got around to seeing how that looked at night!

I hope to see some sunshine this weekend!!  Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate your kind comments!!

  4. Such a pretty tablecloth and I loved that you added a little bling on the candles. Too bad we didn't see your lights. Nice touch with the cheese board. My sister told me you should always try to have one real food item on your table (of course, she's right!). Sorry about the rain. I've decided that outdoor tablescapes are an aerobic workout!

  9. Perfect! Sunflowers are so cheerful! That's even a great tablecloth! I like the tuscan accent pottery and the metal candle holders with bling! The birds are a great compliment too! I had the same kind of day yesterday...we started with rain, it cleared up and we had sunshine and blue skies and then all of a sudden it was darkening and more rain again! I love the sunflower plates- those are so cute! (Pier 1 Imports?) Love 'em!
