A Fall Setting

"How beautifully leaves grow old.  How full of light and color are their last days."--John Burroughs

I love this quote and hope the same can be said of my life one day.

It was a fun weekend.  My son came home from college, as did most of his friends, and we all attended the high school football game.  It was so good to see them all, and to top it off, our team had a victory against our rival!  On Saturday, my husband, daughter, and I went to the afternoon performance of  Wicked, and later, our son and two friends met us at a restaurant for a delicious dinner.  On Sunday, we had a late lunch/early dinner together before he left to go back to school.  My daughter went back to her new apartment to get ready for her work week.

After a wonderful weekend with my family, I settled in with rain fast approaching.  Candlelight, warm colors and textures in the dining room evoked a cozy, homey feeling of autumn.
Lots of candlelight provided a warm glow for this autumn table.
Glass hurricanes were filled with acorns which are abundant right now in my backyard.
This runner from Tuesday Morning has a rich, brown color, gorgeous trimwork, and leaf design.
Starting with a gold baroque charger, plate layers consisted of brown stoneware, ivory stoneware, leopard-design salad plate, and pumpkin tureen.
I finally found bright orange napkins at Home Goods.
The centerpiece consisted of magnolia leaves and nandina leaves, with mini pumpkins, grapes, and gourds tucked inside.  Two pillar candles were placed on top.

Iced beverage glasses are vintage and were my mom's and wine stems have little gold leaves on them (Tuesday Morning years ago).
Flatware is Italian Countryside by Mikasa.
A fall arrangement decorates the sideboard.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you enjoyed your visit, please come back soon!  I am always grateful for your kind comments!

  1. I love all your tablescpaes but my favorites are in the dining room. I have never seen orange look so elegant. Your family and friends must love having dinner in that room. I'm going to visit my Dad up north soon and I will gladly gather all his acorns and bring them back with me!

  2. OK, it is SO obvious that the love spilled over from the weekend right into this tablescape! Look at it! Can you see it??? It's just blowing up love all over the place!!! I'm glad you had a great weekend with your family. Those are the best, aren't they? This is the perfect fall table...reminds me of those I see on the home tour in the fall. The centerpiece really rocks... very full and lots of texture. The love is shining through again with those iced beverage glasses that were your Mom's. Nostalgia and love. Uh huh!!! :-) Lovely, my dear. Simply lovely!

  11. OK, where do I begin? Your dining room looks like it was created just for this tablescape. Your center arrangement has that "just gathered up" look that I love. From your chargers to the runner to the spotted plates to the leaf glasses, it all comes together in a rich and elegant way. Stunningly beautiful. The only thing missing is your black kitty! :)

  12. Breathtaking! I love the combo of the oranges and browns. The asymmetry with the hurricanes on one side and the tall candlesticks on the other adds so much interest. You did a terrific job creating the "acorns and pillars in hurricanes" look that I've seen elsewhere in Blogland and Pinterest - so pretty! Then there is your centerpiece - magnificent with the magnolia leaves and mini-pumpkins! The dishes (espec the pumpkin tureens)and stemware look great. I'm mad now that I passed on those bright orange napkins at HomeSense - you've made them so appealing! I'm going back to look at it all again!
