Halloween 2014

The weather is brisk and fall-like, the leaves are falling and turning their brilliant colors, and the days are shorter.  Then why do I still feel like I'm in summer mode?  Guess I just don't want to give it up.  But, time waits for no man (or woman) and it's here whether I like it or not.  I have had some Halloween decor up since late September, and I even thought about having a Halloween party, but just can't get in the mood. Most of the decor is the same as last year, but I did add a few things, which I will show you below:
I bought three of these little posable creatures from Party City.  They were very affordable and were a great size for decoration.  Same mantle decor as last year, with my cute little lady added, as well as orange lights.
Another view, with the orange lights on.
Here is another, colors went great in my dining room.  I changed up my Halloween tree a bit and put it in a silver vase.
Here is the third creature, trying to get out of the shower.

I added a few pumpkins, a cute witch shoe, and owl candelabra on the range mantle.
My jack-o-lantern sits in the urn on the table outside.
Moving back into the dining room, I used a small witch's hat as the focal point for this arrangement.
A closer look...
My dining room tablescape--I found this big pumpkin at Marshall's and tried to find another but didn't have any luck.  I think I got the witch at Marshall's as well, but can't really remember.
I used my silver goblets, (and didn't polish them) as well as some very old silver flatware.
The napkin rings also hold a placecard.
Smaller pumpkins were purchased at Pier 1.
I bought glittery purple candles, but the color was off, so I didn't use them on the table.  Instead, these black ones are battery-operated with a timer, and they flicker and look sorta old.
On the server, I added a small bud vase with purple roses.
The candles are awesome, but color wasn't right...
But they worked ok over here, sorry for the blurred picture.

Happy Halloween!

  1. Those creatures are the coolest or should I say scariest! Love the one in the bathroom! I've always adored your dining room. Love the wallpaper and that fabulous mirror! Your table looks wonderful Purple is a great color in the fall and it works well with your dining set. The witch is cute and I like all the silver accents! Fall is here- no denying it. We had our first hard frost two nights ago. Leaves are falling steadily.

    1. Aw, thanks Liz. Gearing up for the holiday season now, and preparing to re-make my staircase garland. It's 74 degrees here today, sunny and beautiful. They say it's going to be 81 on Wednesday! Guess that's why I can't get summer out of my head!! Take care!!

    1. Thanks so much, I had fun putting it together, it's really a simple one this year. Yes, that creature in the shower is the best. I thought about getting an authentic size skeleton, and give him a scrub brush for the shower, but just never got around to it!! Luckily, that shower is hardly ever used!! Thanks for your visit!

  3. That chick on the mantel is s-c-a-r-y!!!! She looks like a girl who works at one of the Starbucks around here!!! I am always VERY polite to that girl because I'm afraid she'll cast a spell on me!!! :-)

That ghoul in the shower made me laugh TOTALLY out loud!!!!! Oh, my gosh!!! I'm going to have to find something like that to slip in overnight to scare the bejeezus out of Ramon when he goes in to shower in the morning!!! Although, I don't know...he's not all that observant at 5:30 in the morning!

You did a great job! Very haunting, but still fashionable around the house!! Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Hey Fabby, you know, I've had those napkin rings for a few years, and I've just gotten around to using them. I think I got them at TJ Maxx, but it could have been Home Goods. Anyway, I liked the way they also hold a place card. Take care, and come visit me in Virginia anytime!! Thank you for your kind comments.

  6. Your whole house is wonderful! I love, love, love your generous use of purple - my fav of course! What a fun witch hat arrangement you made. That is the perfect statement for that vignette! Those poseable ones are fabulous, but I have to say I gasped at the one in the shower! What a SCREAM that is! I bet you are getting lots of scares out of that one!
Perfect napkin rings. Where did you get them? I didn't find anything wonderful this year for napkin rings.

    1. Hi Jacqueline, thank you, I enjoy doing floral type things. I liked the creatures when I saw them, because you can pose the arms. And the best part was they were only $10 a piece when you bought 3!! I appreciate your kind comments!
