With St. Patrick's Day fast approaching, I have been thinking of tablesettings. To be perfectly honest, I am not the least bit Irish, but I am all about a great celebration, for whatever reason I can come up with. That being said, I do not have anything at all relating to St. Patrick's Day. When I was a child, I did not even have any green clothing, and I would have great anxieties of being pinched for not wearing green. So my mother would dig through her costume jewelry, and come up with something green that I could wear so I wouldn't be pinched.
We do have a huge celebration in our neighborhood, as one of my neighbors is Irish. He will rent a huge tent, hire a band, and the street will be partitioned off. Hopefully I can dig through my jewelry box and find something that will show my support!
So today, my table is green, sort of, so I won't be "pinched".
Come on in, and we'll take a closer look.
I found this great ivory lace drapery panel at an outlet store, greatly reduced, and layered it over a white tablecloth.
I tried several different chargers, and decided on these mirrored ones recently purchased at Tuesday Morning.
China is Greenwich by Minton.
Napkins are ivory and are held with a crystal ring. The design reminded me a little of a clover? maybe? The little butter patty dishes were my Mom's.
I wish I knew the pattern for these wine stems. I inherited these as well from my Mom's collection. I love the etched design. The iced beverages were acquired recently from Craigslist!
I remember these candelabras were always on my Mother's sideboard when I was growing up. They were my maternal grandmother's.
After reading Bill's last post at Affordable Accoutrements on silver overlay, I looked through my china cabinet and found this sugar and creamer. It looks similar to what he was referring to, but there were no markings, so I'm not sure it's actually silver or an imitation. I think they are pretty cool regardless...
I added this little vintage clover dish just for fun!
Originally I had planned to use just yellow, white, and green in my centerpiece. But I saw this bouquet in the store for $9.99, added greenery from my yard and assembled this with a hurricane globe and candle in a silver tray. The claret-colored alstroemeria blended in with the colors in my dining room.
I recently found this great Maitland-Smith metal urn at an antique mall and just couldn't pass it up!
Thanks for stopping by and visiting with me today! Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Another beautiful table! It looks elegant and sophisticated. The overhead shot is very impressive! Your centerpiece is beautiful -- it's always fun to combine "store bought" flowers with something from right outside one's door.
ReplyDeleteI'd say your sugar & creamer are definitely silver overlay. Here's a great site to read about it: http://silvercityglass.com/index.html
I don't think I saw your exact pattern, but there are some that look similar.
Hope the rest of your week goes well ...
Bill
Beautiful table!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I just love the mirrored chargers! The effect you made with the tablecloth is perfect for this table!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! The floral arrangement turned out lovely! I love classic settings..and this is just that! Glistening silver, china and crystal always seem to be the most elegant combination. I realy love those chargers, smart buy- you could use them with so many other settings. Your sideboard is a favorite of mine, I love seeing what you have done with it. Your urn is an awesome new find, I have a short version in an antiqued gold look that reminds me of that. Very cool looking with the moss balls! Beautiful irish table setting!
ReplyDeleteYour floral arrangement is lovely. I love the mirrored chargers with your delicate china A beautiful table all around.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely table and such a wonderful room!
ReplyDeleteLOVE that urn!!! It is perfect there, especially with those cool oversized moss balls! Looks really substantial. I can see why you couldn't pass it up! The table is beautiful with so many elegant touches. I read Bill's post this week, too, and recognized the silver overlay pieces in your photo right away! Those, along with the crystal candelabra, really make everything on the table stand out. Beautiful floral arrangement, too. You did a great job with it! VERY clever to use the drapery panel as an overlay!!! Wow! I think you will only get pinched out of sheer joy over your table! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteMama always had to dig out something green to keep me from getting pinched, too. I could do blue any day...green...not so much. I love your tablescape. There is a store in Ft. Worth, Texas, call "Dishes From the Past." I believe that they have a website. They are really nice about looking at a picture of items and helping you identify it. You might inquire to see if they have more, and ask them for name/manufacturer, etc. For crystal goblets, they are always most interested in a good picture of the stem. Evidently, that's the first design 'signature' to help them identify crystal goblets. Thank you for sharing your beautiful design. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeletePretty, pretty, pretty ... love the urn ... and the use of the drapery panel! I love repurposing things like that. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely table setting, and such an inviting dining room. I love your new urn.
ReplyDeleteOh how pretty ....and I do have some Irish blood. Very understated elegance for St. Patrick's day. The china is so pretty -- I love your silver overlay and pretty candlesticks. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The china is really pretty!Happy St Patrick's Day!
ReplyDeleteLovely and elegant table! And perfectly green for the upcoming St. Patrick's Day festivities!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful table setting. Your inherited pieces are really stunning.
ReplyDeleteYou have set a lovely table. I love to use items on my table that I remember from my childhood. Identifying crystal is difficult because there was just so much of it. I have so much of my mother's and grandmother's but have not been able to identify it all.
ReplyDeleteAgain, just a beautiful table in a lovely room.

You certainly won't be pinched! You will get applause. That is gorgeous! I love the china, and stems. Your centerpiece is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI am 100% Irish AMERICAN but my best friend in college was 100% NOT! Every year she decked herself out in orange, she has red hair too. Funny cause she married a Murphy!
Have a great weekend!
A stunning tablescape...A perfect Setting!!! The china is gorgeous, the centerpiece with the flowers, your grandmother's candelabra, everything is in tune for a beautiful spring melody with St. Patty's Day.
ReplyDeleteI'm originally from Astoria-Queens and grew up in a neighborhood that was Irish-Italian (now it's Greek) and so I remember celebrating St. Patty's with friends and a couple of boyfriends, Kelly and Hayes, the latter was my first, I was 14.
Happy St. Patrick's.

Beautiful tablescape. I'm 100% Bronx Irish Catholic but you don't need to be Irish to celebrate. I celebrate all year long since my face says it all! Love your dishes, tablecloth idea of a drapery (now, that's a good thing), glasses, linens. What is not to love?
ReplyDeleteYour Minton china is so pretty.....love the shape of the plates and the mirrored chargers are a good choice. They look lovely on the lace cloth.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful ... all of it! Yes, your cream and sugar definitely appears to be silver overlay. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteSo elegant and so beautiful! Your dining room is gorgeous and so grand...Christine
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI'm your newest follower! This is indeed a perfect setting. I just have to say that everything on your table is beautiful! You have some lovely vintage pieces. I think one of the nicest things about passing heirlooms down through our family is that we are passing along memories as well. When I use these things or just see them displayed in our home, I always think of the loved one who gave them to us. You have arranged your heirlooms beautifully on your table.
Enjoy your weekend!
Denise
Everything is stunningly beautiful! I've really enjoyed my visit, have a wonderful weekend!

Beautiful table! I just popped over from Vicki's Curly Willow, and now I'm your newest follower. I was one of the lucky ones to get a new header from Vicki. Isn't she the most talented lady?
ReplyDeleteIt's late here tonight and I'm signing off, but will be back soon to see all those gorgeous tables I've missed.

Your St. Patrick's Day table setting is gorgeous. I noticed the lovely floral wallpaper you have in your dining room. Is it old or a repro.? I love it and your whole dining room is elegantly beautiful!
